What is Assistive Technology (AT) and how does it apply to positive aging? Assistive Technology is defined as "any item, piece of equipment, software program or productive system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of people." More simply put it is equipment designed to make living easier and people more independent. Assistive Technology can be as simple as an adding a holder to a cup to make it more accessible. It can be a wearable device such as a watch that has been adapted to monitor where you are at to deter getting lost. It can be an integrated smart home system that monitors where you are, medications that have been take, lighting that has been customized to you unique environmental needs. Or it may even be a problem that we have encountered where we need the feedback of others. No matter what the problem we look forward to sharing with each of you to find the solution!
